Well, it's been one week since Hayden got the trach and he is doing really well. He is off the ventilator and breathing on his own! His next big hurdle is feeding. He has to learn how to coordinate the whole sucking, swallowing, and breathing thing. If he has a hard time with it we may have to put in a G-tube (feeding tube thru the belly), but they're going to give him a chance first and see how he does.
"Porky" is up to 8 1/2 lbs. already...that's over 2 lbs. in 1 month. He loves to eat, and all of his nurses know that they cannot be late with his feedings, or he'll let them have it. He may look just like his Daddy, but Mommy's temperment also got passed along.
We will be going thru extensive training this week to learn how to care for the trach. Once that is complete and the feeding situation is figured out, Hayden will be able to come home. We're hoping for sometime early next week (keep your fingers crossed!).
We have some new pictures with NO TUBES, so as soon as we get them loaded up, we'll get them on the site so everyone can finally see his adorable face!Comments:Add a comment:

well here is the latest on Mr. Hayden Bruns. On Monday he is to have a procedure done to see if he is a good canidate for having the trach done. All the docs believe he is. So we think Monday he will have it done. Good news on that is in a week to ten days after that he can come home!!!!!! Hayden has been growing very well, closing in on 8 lbs. He is very very strong and loves staring at his mother.
Well that's the latest, I better get going. Please call us if you have any questions.
Talk to you all soon.

HELLO EVERYONE!
Well here is an update on Hayden's health. Hayden is currently @ Children's hospial in Milwaukee. We are looking into several options to help his breathing. Hayden has gained over a pound since birth. He is very pleasent when his belly is full. Most have heard by now that he has multiple chromosome abnormalities. Not a lot of knowledge as far as long term goes. Just take it day by day.
Thank you to all who have been praying. We all need it. Michelle again has been wonderful during this. Except that were both very very tired.Comments:Add a comment:
